House Rules

The house rules regulate the coexistence of all housemates within the house. It contains rights and obligations. It applies to all inhabitants.

The coexistence of several people under one roof is not possible without a certain order. Everyone will only feel comfortable if all house inhabitants are considerate of each other.

Noise

  • Each tenant is responsible for preventing avoidable noise in the appartment, the house, the yard and the premises. Special consideration has to be taken during the period from 1.00 p.m. until 3.00 p.m. as well as from 10.00 p.m. until 6.00 a.m. Radios, TV, CD-players and so on have to be set to low volume. All housemates should be informed about celebrations for a special occasion in due time.
  • Playing instruments during the period of quiet from 1.00 p.m. until 3.00 p.m. and between 7.00 p.m. and 8.00 a.m. is strictly prohibited. During the other periods music must not be made more than two hours a day.

Safety

  • Under safety aspects front doors, cellar entrances and yard gates are to be kept closed permanently.
  • House and yard entrances, staircases and corridors are to be strictly kept clear as escape routes.
  • Barbecueing with charcoal on the balconies is generally not allowed. A suitable area near the building is on hand for barbecueing.
  • The storage of flammable, inflammatory as well as odour-causing substances is prohibited.
  • In case of leakages and other defects of the water pipes the service agency in charge and the tenant are to be informed immediately.
  • The balconies are to be kept clear from snow, fuels and other extraordinary exposures.
  • The tenant is to keep doors and windows closed during his absence.

Chores

  • The house and the premises are to be maintained in a clean and neat condition.
  • For the prevention and reduction of an impending damage, especially against the appearance of vermin, household rubbish is to be disposed properly. Household rubbish may only be disposed into the provided trash cans and containers. A systematic rubbish separation has to be ensured. Hazardous waste and bulky goods do not belong into these containers. They are to be disposed of separately according to the rules of the borough.
  • Flower boards and flower boxes must be applied to the balcony or the window sill safely. When watering flowers it is to be made sure that the water does not run down the house wall and drop onto the windows and balconies of other tenants.
  • The washkitchen is to be used for washing. The laundry must not be dried in the living space. The visible hanging-up and placing of laundry on balconies, in windows etc. is not allowed.

Ventilation

  • The accomodation units are to be ventilated sufficiently also during the cold season. This is done by opening the windows as short as possible but sufficiently. The appartment, especially the kitchen, must not be ventilated towards the staircase.

Vehicles

  • Parking motor-driven vehicles in the yard, the pavements and green spaces is not allowed. Cars and motorcycles must neither be washed on the premises, nor may oil changes and repairs be conducted.
  • When driving along the garage driveways and parking lots walking speed is to be generally maintained.
  • The storage of bicycles is generally only allowed on the areas provided for this purpose and in the bicycle cellar.

House Pets

  • Keeping house pets is not allowed.
